In addition to a number of beautiful American and British arrangements, you will also find three Slovak songs on this CD recorded in 2018. Two of them („Večer pri Dunaji", „To svoje srdce vrelé") are real jewels that have fallen into oblivion and it is an immense honor for us to have had the opportunity to bring them back to life. The Fats Jazz Band again reaches for not quite common instruments (bass saxophone in the tune "Sorry") or non-traditional sound effects (police horn in "Spooky Takes A Holiday"). All the instruments that the musicians play are original from the 1930s and 1940s. The CD also contains a "French" version of the song "Honeysuckle Rose" originally recorded in Paris in 1937 during Comeman Hawkins' European tour with Django Reinhardt on guitar and Stéphane Grappelli on piano. The dramaturgy of the CD closes with a touching, intimate, chamber version (piano and vocal) of the song "Rockin' Chair".
Fats Jazz Band records all albums together with the singers without the using overdubs or any adjustments of tune, synchronization of the musicians etc. You hear the orchestra exactly as it plays live.
