Original hot-jazz and swing music that will transport you to another world, get your blood pumping and take you back to a time of refinement, elegant gowns and hot parties. FATS JAZZ BAND is a nine-piece orchestra that revives the hot-jazz and swing tradition of the 1920s through the 1940s. It was founded by Ladislav Fančovič, one of the best contemporary Slovak pianists. The orchestra plays original arrangements by jazz legends such as Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson and Peggy Lee, which Fančovič faithfully transcribes from old shellac recordings. In addition to American hits, he also performs Slovak foxtrots and tangos by František Krištof Veselý and Czech film melodies by Inka Zemánková and R. A. Dvorský. Also, the reconstructed historical musical instruments, the stylish clothing and the overall expression of the orchestra are in complete harmony with the period they represent. Despite its, one might say, old-fashionedness, the sound of the orchestra evokes something timeless in people. The orchestra brings ancient songs into the present with its spontaneous interpretation. It is the spontaneity that has given the music of this period its magic, and it is the Fats Jazz Band that will undoubtedly bring you into the present. The festival wants to bring culture closer to the younger generation, which is why it is preparing special discounted ticket prices. The €1 ticket is valid for children up to 12 years of age. Proof of age is required at the entrance to the event. On the green meadows of the Janek Kráľ Garden near the Gothic Tower, lovers of history and stylish clothes will again spread out their colourful blankets and picnic baskets. This event of the year will again focus on the period 1900-1950. Take your grandmother's blanket, air out the picnic baskets, look for skittles or badminton rackets, leave the cell phones at home and spend a pleasant day just like our grandparents did in the days of their youth. If you also pull a piece of clothing from the period out of the wardrobes, you'll feel all the more like you're back in the olden days, and you'll create the magical atmosphere of this picnic. The programme will include music from this era, craft demonstrations, a First Republic fashion show, a dance workshop, a children's playroom, and stalls with delicacies and handmade products. The evening will be rounded off by the well-known FATS JAZZ BAND, a band dedicated to hot jazz and swing music from the 1920s - 1940s. With family, friends and loves, you'll be able to enjoy the day like a photo spread, based in an old book. Come experience and feel the love of history with us. With this event we are opening the Cultural Summer in Petržalka 2025.

A concert tuned to swing waves will be performed by the first class orchestra FATS JAZZ BAND with bandleader Ladislav Fanzowitz on Monday 25th August at 7:00 p.m. The beautiful garden of the Albrechts' House in the heart of Bratislava recalls with its "genius loci" the romantic times of the last century, when the Albrechts' family welcomed artists and friends of quality music in this place with always open doors. The best pieces from the orchestra's repertoire will be played, as well as tangos and foxtrots from our, then still Czechoslovakian waters. You will be able to hear live the compositions played and sung by legends such as Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Teddy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, F. K. Veselý, R. A. Dvorský, Viera Racková, Inka Zemánková or Jiřina Salačová. Tickets available from June 25
